Children are robbed of their childhood when they are abused or neglected. They suffer physically, emotionally, socially, and educationally - the impact of which often lasts into adulthood.
You can help make a difference in the life of a child by volunteering with CASA: You will become a powerful voice in court by ensuring a child's needs are known and met in the child welfare system while helping them find a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer is the only constant person in their lives during a traumatic time.
No experience in the legal system or special certification necessary: we provide excellent training and support.
Learn more about what it means to be a CASA volunteer by contacting Shellie Tyrrell, 936-441-5437, ext. 209 or email me directly at Shellie@CASASpeaks4Kids.com or go to our web site at www.CASASpeaks4Kids.com. Thank you for your consideration.

Description
Since 1991, this private non-profit agency, CASA Child Advocates of Montgomery County, has been training community volunteers to be a powerful voice for children of abuse and neglect in this county. CASA's role in the community is a critical one. CASA Court Advocates serve as the eyes and ears of the judge in court proceedings involving abused and neglected children. These dedicated men and women fact find, gather inormation, interview all parties involved, look for possible relative placement, but most importantly, they develop a relationship with the child involved. In 2012, 639 children and their families have been served by this program. In 2012 we had 171 active Advocates, and we served 83% of the children who came into the court system because of abuse or neglect.
