Season of Giving - Red Cross Volunteer Groups

Organization |
American Red Cross Blood Services - Southern California |
Description
American Red Cross Volunteers are an essential part of our proud tradition and service to the community. Volunteers make a meaningful contribution to the American Red Cross Blood Services every single day. Come and volunteer for blood drives in your community!
Corporate Teams Ongoing or event based volunteer opportunities! American Red Cross Blood Services holds quarterly blood drives at many locations in Southern California. If your group is looking for a service project that does not require a huge time commitment but has major community impact, your assistance would be most welcome at these blood drives!
How it works Your group would be invited to "adopt" a blood drive in your community, which means you would attend the drive when it is held, greet blood donors as they arrive, and oversee them as they relax in the refreshment area after their donation is complete. We will provide training for your group members to carry out these customer service duties.
High School or College Blood Drives Typically, schools hold blood drives once or twice a year between September and May. These drives are usually held from 8am to 2pm on a weekday with a goal of collecting 60 to 200 units (about a pint) of blood at each drive. So your volunteers can be quite busy!
American Red Cross Donor Centers American Red Cross Donor Centers operate on a set schedule that include weekdays and weekends. If you choose to "adopt" one of the 12 Donor Centers available in Southern California, we will even place a sign recognizing your generous participation in our Donor Center. We have Donor Centers in the following locations: Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Laguna Hills, Long Beach, Santa Ana, Torrance, Westwood, Woodland Hills, and Escondido.
Red Cross Community Blood Drives We also host regularly scheduled Blood Drives at many community locations. These drives run one or more times a week in the same location: Alhambra, Brea, Bellflower, Burbank, Chula Vista, Diamond Bar, Downey, El Monte, El Cajon, El Segundo, Glendale, Los Angeles, Norwalk, Huntington Beach, Poway, San Clemente, Santa Monica, Simi Valley, Thousand Oaks, Valencia, Van Nuys / Panorama City, Westchester, Whittier and Yorba Linda.
Our Volunteer Staff never handle blood or needles, so no medical training or experience is required. Your group members must be at least 16 years of age. We will train your group at one of your meetings or at your first Blood Drive. We can also "train a trainer" from your group. Most of all, you are there to have fun and help save lives!
