Blood Services
Services include disaster relief, disaster education, emergency preparedness and volunteer training. We provide participant and instructor level courses in CPR, First Aid, AED, Lifeguard Training, Water Safety, Learn-to-Swim for infants through adults, and HIV/AIDS education. Emergency communications and financial assistance are available around the clock to military personnel and their families. Blood-mobiles are held in chapter communities to assure an adequate supply of blood and blood products to area hospitals. We also provide volunteer staff for the permanent blood donor site in Kearney. Red Cross volunteer staff a language bank and immunization clinics.
Red Cross provides services to people of all ages, regardless of gender, race or ability. All residents are eligible for all programs as long as they meet established criteria for that program. (Disaster victims, active military and their families, blood donors who meet age and medical requirements.)
The chapter service area includes a
ll residents of Buffalo, Kearney and Phelps counties (including the communities of : Kearney, Amherst, Elm Creek, Gibbon, Miller, Odessa, Pleasanton, Ravenna, Riverdale, Shelton, Minden, Axtell, Heartwell, Norman, Wilcox, Holdrege, Atlanta, Bertrand, Funk, Loomis and people in rural areas).
The chapter also provides administrative services to three Certified Service Delivery Units (CSDU) which include Dawson CSDU (Dawson and Gosper Counties) and Custer CSDU (Custer and Blaine Counties).
In addition, disaster response and Health and Safety Services are provided to people in Harlan, Loup, Franklin, Valley and Garfield Counties.
