Mission Statement

Community Lodgings Inc. (CLI) was founded in 1987 by Alexandria churches with a mission to lift families from homelessness and instability, empowering them to self-sufficiency. We provide affordable housing, transitional housing and education for adults and children. We provide comprehensive services for at-risk families and children under one roof. Our programs are designed to invoke true "institutional change" one child, adult and family at a time.

Description

For 30 years, Community Lodgings has been providing educational programs and housing for low-income and homeless families in Alexandria. We own and operate 44 apartment units in 5 buildings in the Arlandria-Chirilagua neighborhood of Alexandria. Six of these units are reserved for families transitioning out of homelessness, and the remaining 38 units are leased to families making 60% or less than the area median income. We are also home to two family learning centers, which serve as sites for our Youth Education Program (YEP). This program serves 110 children in the community year-round, and offers such services as afterschool tutoring, mentoring, and summer youth education. In addition, we provide our affordable housing and transitional housing clients with job readiness and financial literacy workshops, ESL instruction/translation services, emergency food kits, budget mentoring, job counseling, and family therapy, among other services.
