Helps Red Cross fulfill our mission to provide immediate relief to victims of disaster and the community prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Responsibilities:

  1. Support Red Cross mission in responding to disasters and provide immediate assistance (food, clothing, and shelter) to victims.
  2. Work with assigned DAT Captain(s), and the rest of the team. to ensure after hours coverage on the team's scheduled rotation.
  3. Complete required training and experience requirements to actively serve on a DAT team.
  4. Adhere to Disaster policies and procedures in delivering Red Cross disaster Services. Accurately complete required forms and paperwork.
  5. Provide information and referral to clients to meet emergency needs not met by the Red Cross.
  6. Maintain client confidentiality and practice good stewardship of Red Cross resources.

Availability:

Nights and weekend availability required as DAT members respond 24 hours/day. Hours needed: DAT members scheduled for on-call status on a 3-week rotation. Time commitment: Minimum of 6 months. Once trained may remain active as long as volunteer desires and completes required training/updates.

An emergency social services and community health education organization providing disaster relief, assistance to military families and veterans, health and safety training, non-emergency transportation to medical appointments, varied youth programs and international tracing. Serving communities and individuals of Austin, Brazoria, Chambers, Ft Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Houston, Liberty, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Walker, Waller, and Washington Counties.
