Description

Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American Festival and Shad Fest, Sunday, April 29th, 2007. Inwood Hill Park, 218 Street, 3 Blocks from Broadway; 9 AM - 6 PM, Rain or Shine!

Volunteers are needed for this unique event, the only outdoor powwow in Manhattan featuring Drummers, Dancers, Story Tellers, Arts & Crafts, International Foods and a Free Shad Tasting & Hudson River Fish Exhibit. Volunteers are needed to assist in every aspect of the event. Please remember, this is an outdoor event and we perform rain or shine. Help us help the dancers and musicians, help us help the vendors and crafts perople, help us help the Parks Department from the City of New York. Meet artists from a wide range of International traditions that share the drum as live musical accompaniment. This year, the festival is honoring Congressman John Lewis and Onondaga Faith Keeper, Oren Lyons for their support of Native American causes. Come and say hello and have a fun filled day!

Skills

  • 1) Able to walk and stand for hours without tiring. 2) Able to listen and follow instructions. 3) Willing to go where you are needed or assigned and stay there without wandering off to site see. 4) Must enjoy outdoor activities. 5) Must enjoy meeting and greeting people. 6) Some may be asked to do physical labor, such as to help set up tents etc. 7) A background in music and dance is a plus. 8) Enjoy making things look good and work smoothly. 9) Able to think independantly and know when to ask for help. 10) Be open and willing to experience all cultures and have fun!
