ORGANIZATION: Motivating Our Students Through Experience (MOSTe)

We are currently seeking volunteers and mentors for the 2012-2013 school year. For over two decades, MOSTE (Mentoring Our Students Through Experience) has matched 7th- and 8th-grade inner-city girls with professional women who help them get on the college track. We are a mentoring, scholarship, and college access program. Most of these girls don't know anyone who has gone to college. The professional women who volunteer their time serve as powerful models of success--and you can be that model who changes lives. Women and girls are matched September through May during the school year. (However applications are accepted at any time) Mentors participate in fun group activities and/or one-on-one with their mentee.

There are also numerous committee positions available for women who are not able to commit to the full year as a mentor. Such committees include:

* Programs
* Development
* Fundraising
* IT Squad
* PR
* Membership
* Scholarship

If you have a background or general interest in one of these committees, please inquire today!

There are still plenty of mentees who need positive role models as well!

Apply today by emailing monique4moste@yahoo.com or log on to our website www.moste.org to submit an electronic application.

Mission Statement

The mission of MOSTe is to mentor and empower girls from underserved areas of Los Angeles County to become the next generation of college-educated women. Our vision is for our scholars to reach college and graduate within 6 years, and develop into confident, career-focused agents of social change.

Description

Motivating Our Students Through Experience (MOSTe) is a mentoring and college access nonprofit dedicated to ensuring that girls from underserved areas in LA County have the support they need to get to and through college. Students enter our programs in the seventh grade, are matched with professional female mentors, and are provided the resources, guidance, and access needed to help accomplish their educational goals. Mentors in our organization serve as role models, thoughtful listeners, and guides to exploring schools, careers, and opportunities. As of 2022, MOSTe has supported hundreds of girls in underserved Los Angeles communities to grow into confident, connected, and college-educated young women with pathways to achieve their long-term career ambitions.
