Pastoral Care Visitor (St. Joseph East)

A Pastoral Care Visitor will make initial visits to newly admitted patients to acquaint them with the Pastoral Care Department and the service of spiritual needs/concerns the department provides and make referrals to the department as needed.
A. Report to the Pastoral Care Department for names and room numbers of patients to be visited.
B. Introduce yourself to patient and give brief description of Pastoral Care Services and leave card.
C. Briefly visit with patient to ascertain if they need visit by Chaplain.
D. Speak to patient about Advanced Directives and see if the patient wishes to have a referral.
E. Note results of visit on each patient sheet i.e. needs Chaplain or no further action.
F. Report pertinent information to area chaplain.
G. Record all visits in logbook in Pastoral Care office.
H. Attend occasional Pastoral Care/Volunteer Continuing Education meetings as necessary.

The Pastoral Care Visitor Volunteer is responsible to the Director of Pastoral. He/she shall report to the department secretary or the Chaplain on-duty upon arrival to the department for special assignments; otherwise he/she will follow routine duties.
