Literacy Volunteers of Atlanta (LVA) trains volunteers to become one-on-one tutors for adults (18 years and older) who need help learning to read and write. LVA serves the metro Atlanta area, and tries to match tutors and students with similar schedules and who live in the same county/area. Tutors and students meet in a public place that is convenient for both individuals. We request that tutors commit to 2 hours a week for at least one year with a student. There is no need to have prior teaching experience. LVA provides training to volunteers to prepare them to work with students.
