Enriching the lives of our patients is Heartland Hospice's primary mission. We need your help to fulfill the needs of our patients and families by offering any of the following services:
friendly visiting, conversation & companionship
providing respite for patient caregivers
running errands, light housekeeping tasks
reading personal mail, literature, magazines/newspapers, etc.
writing letters and cards
translating languages--especially Spanish
playing a musical instrument or on a piece of equipment (CD Player)
art therapy
pet therapy (pet must have proof of current shots and pet therapy certification)
Our patients and volunteers find these visits to be some of the best moments of their lives. Please help us to continue this rewarding service.

Our volunteer program caters to the needs of our Hospice patients. Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life, rather than length of life. It neither hastens nor postpones death; it affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. The hospice program stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient. Hospice ensures that patients spend their final days in dignity and comfort.
