VOLUNTEER TUTORS SOUGHT FOR ADULT LITERACY PROGRAM

ADULT BASIC ENGLISH (Reading and Writing)

TUTOR TRAINING SCHEDULED FOR Friday, January 29, 2016

DePorres P.L.A.C.E Adult Literacy Center in West Palm Beach is seeking volunteer tutors for their Adult Basic English (Reading and Writing) program. A Training for new tutors will take place on Friday, January 29, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 4 PM at DePorres P.L.A.C.E., Adult Literacy Center, 1016 North Dixie Hwy, Second Floor, West Palm Beach, FL 33401

Tutors teach reading and writing to adults over the age of 18 who are out of school and reading below eighth grade level. Laubach Way to Reading is the basic text. Tutoring is done one-to-one.

DePorres P.L.A.C.E offers classes in Adult Basic English (Reading and Writing). During the workshop, prospective tutors will learn how to use the Laubach Way to Reading Series for literacy students.

DePorres P.L.A.C.E Adult Literacy Center was founded in 1997 to provide adults in Palm Beach County with the opportunity to learn how to read, and write English. The center offers one-to-one instruction for adults (over 18 years old) who attend classes twice a week for 1 and a half hour sessions, or once a week for 2 hours sessions.
