Description

Help us stop the injuries and deaths which occur in alcohol related crashes.

In 2006 Harris County had more drunk driving deaths per capita than any other of the other top ten most populated counties in the nation. And although the death rate has dropped significantly on a national level, Texas and Harris County's numbers have decline only slightly. Additionally, a recent study shows that Houston ranks second in the nation for youth binge drinking among the country's top fifteen metropolitan areas. These statistics are unacceptable.

That is why MADD has launched the "Take the Wheel" campaign which is an all-out effort that concentrates all of MADD's programs and services into a single community - our community.

A major component to the success of MADD's mission is our partnership with law enforcement. Our newly formed "Law Enforcement Appreciation Committee" will honor those officers who are dedicated to stopping drunk driving and underage drinking. Activities will include the presentation of certificates to officers in roll-call briefings, an annual awards dinner, and involvement in relevant legislation.

Drunk Driving is the one illness in our society that is preventable. We need your help.
