El Paso Dispute Resolution Center is seeking volunteers who would like to become Trained Mediators.
Who makes a good mediator?
-Strong "people skills"
-Able to be directive
-Comfortable with high emotion, arguments, interruptions, tears -Respected and trusted
-Imaginative in solving problems and generating options
-Patient as disputants inch their way towards resolution
-Able to empathize and be gentle, to withhold judgment
-Impartial
The Center will be hosting the 40 hour Basic Mediation Training in April 27-29 and May 4-6, 2018. The schedule is as follows:
-Friday, April 27, 2018 : 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
-Saturday & Sunday, April 28-29, 2018: 8:30 a.m.- 5p.m.
-Friday, May 4, 2018: 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
-Saturday & Sunday, May 5-6, 2018: 8:30 a.m.- 5p.m.
