Give back by becoming a VNA Hospice Care volunteer! Our team of hospice volunteers provides companionship to patients and respite for caregivers. Some volunteers run errands or take people to appointments. Many volunteers visit people at home and othesr visit in nursing homes or assisted living facilities.

We are looking for people who drive a car and can make visits once a week (preferably on weekdays) as most patients and caregivers find the most helpful time to visit is in the late morning or in the early to mid-afternoon.

VNAHC serves patients in over 70 communities and we are currently in need of volunteers who would be able to visit in any of the following communities:

  • Arlington
  • Back Bau
  • Braintree
  • Brookline
  • Cambridge
  • Canton
  • Charlestown
  • Chelsea
  • Dorchester
  • East Boston
  • Everett
  • Hyde Park
  • Jamaica Plain
  • Malden
  • Mattapan
  • Medford
  • Milton
  • Newton
  • Randolph
  • Revere
  • Roslindale
  • Roxbury
  • Somerville
  • South Boston
  • Watertown
  • West Roxbury
  • Weymouth
  • Winthrop

We also seek:

  • Musicians who would like to sing or plan music quietly at eh bedside of nursing home patients
  • Reiki practitioners who would like to offer Reiki to patients and/or caregivers; and
  • people who are interested in visiting with their therapy dog.

Visiting volunteers must be age 18 or older. A CORI check is run on all volunteers
