Project Description:
This week-long service project in Saguaro National Park (located in Tucson, AZ) will focus on removing invasive grasses by using digging tools such as picks, rock hammers, and rock bars. Invasive grasses fill in the open spaces in the Sonoran Desert, crowding out native plants and competing for nutrients, water, and sunshine, in addition to being a huge fire risk. You’ll be able to see areas that have been cleared by previous Wilderness Volunteers groups.

Accommodations:
Dispersed tent camping.

Difficulty:
Strenuous. Pulling invasive grasses is very challenging.~4-mile RT daily hikes with 500' change.
