An Ombudsman Volunteer is an advocate who helps to resolve concerns expressed by, or on behalf of, residents living in Suffolk County's nursing homes and adult care facilities. Volunteers are trained to become certified and visit an assigned long-term care facility weekly to help residents understand and exercise their rights to quality care and quality of life. This is a rewarding volunteer opportunity that provides an important service to residents living in the long-term care community.
