Position : Volunteer Marketing and Communications Coordinator

The SLO Noor Foundation is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that provides high quality free medical, eye, and dental care to uninsured adults regardless of race, ethnicity, immigration, religion or socioeconomic status. Our team of volunteers includes physicians, optometrists, dentists, nurses, phlebotomy techs, hygienists, clerical staff and others . . . because no one should go without healthcare. Our free clinics operate solely on donations, grants from private individuals, businesses, civic groups, hospitals, and charitable foundations and fundraisers. Thus, we operate with only three full-time employees, two part-time employees and otherwise a fully volunteer staff.

In this position we are looking for an individual to take responsibility for writing, publishing and distributing the monthly organizational newsletter and put together a local marketing outreach plan. This individual should be creative and resourceful in gathering stories and news that will engage the local community. We want to develop a sustainable communications and outreach team that will reach both donors and volunteers, and maintain engagement.

Description:

The Volunteer Marketing and Communications Coordinator will provide marketing and communications support and expand our outreach to donors, volunteers and patients. The main responsibility is the newsletter as well as putting together a local marketing outreach plan. This individual would be working largely autonomously and self directed with the ability and maturity to work in a service and clinic environment.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for local marketing outreach with local civic groups, other non-profit organizations and individuals.

• Write, publish, and distribute monthly newsletter.

• Develop editorial calendar.

• Work as a team with blogger, website content assistant, and social media brand ambassador.

Requirements :

• Previous writing experience preferred.

• Creative and resourceful.

• Working toward degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, Public Relations, or English prefered but open to other majors.

• Ability to work autonomously and as a part of a team.

• Commitment to the values and mission of SLO Noor to provide quality healthcare to the uninsured.

• Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.

• Good organization and time management skills.

• Detail-oriented.

Start Date: May 1, 2017

Commitment: We are asking for a 6-month commitment for this position, 5-8 hours per week. Possible school credit. Work hours can be adjusted depending on the student’s schedule. Job can be done remotely. This is an unpaid volunteer staff position.
