The person in this part-time position will act as a public affairs and recruiting person for the organization. Though assisted by others in the organization to carry out both public affairs and client recruiting, the primary role of this position will be to make sure that Computer Mentors is having its story told in the press and media and that the public is aware of its programs and its good works. The person in this position will also be considered for permanent employment with the organization.
Responsibilities & Duties:
Be the primary resource to create the organization’s monthly newsletter including souring newsletter stories
Write and distribute press releases
Assist in the promotion of upcoming events and activities including activities to assist in recruiting clients
Take the primary role of recruitment of clients, once an area is identified.
Work closely with the news media to have stories consistently placed in newspapers, recognized on television, and interviews broadcast on radio
Work closely with funding clients to make sure that they receive recognition and that they are aware of the recognition.
Attend various special events and represent the organization in meetings
Man event/display tables at various events to assist in the recruitment of program clients
Work closely with CM managers and staff to be aware of upcoming events
Assist in maintenance of social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram)
Qualifications:
Great people skills
Ability to build a relationships with many diverse groups of people
Outgoing, creative individual
Should be able to easily use creativity tools required to create newsletters and press releases
Graphic arts skills are a definite plus

Description
The Computer Mentors Program
Computer Mentors Group offers free computer training to youths between the ages of 14 to 18 years old, living within Hillsborough County. Our target is assist youth to choose Information Technology as a career and provide them with opportunities to practice skills in "real life" situations. This is accomplished by allowing students to earn industry standard certifications and providing opportunities to perform free technology projects to non-profit organizations. The three main type of projects performed are web design, phone app development, and video production.
