YFU international students are carefully selected from one of more than 60 countries. YFU international students have been tested for their proficiency in the English language and adapt well to studying and living in an English-speaking environment. YFU students bring their own spending money and medical insurance while in the U.S. Host a YFU high school international exchange student and change lives forever! Youth For Understanding (YFU) prepares young people for their responsibilities and opportunities in a changing, interdependent world.

Description

Through YFU student exchange programs, young people from around the world live with a host family in another crountry, immerse themselves in the local culture, and build friendships that bring crountries together. As these young people discover new worlds and make lasting friendships, they not only learn about another culture and a new language, they also gain perspective on the world and develop a stronger sense of self.

With 60 years of success in international student exchange, YFU has built a reputation for maintaining the highest quality programs in the field--just ask one of the 250,000 YFU alumni around the world.

YFU is a volunteer based organization with one of the largest international exchange scholarship programs in the world. Each year, more than 4,500 students and families participate in programs around the world, with YFU USA receiving more than 2,000 international students and sending over 500 American students abroad.
