Volunteer for 1-800-CHILDREN referal/support line
Organization |
Description
1-800-CHILDREN is a statewide toll-free line, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, that serves as a front line defense against abuse. This line offers parents and caregivers a lifeline of support, encouragement and information regarding resources in their community. Staff at PCAK answer the helpline during the day. During the weekend, evenings and holiday hours, calls are transferred so that volunteers can answer these calls from their home. Calls usually last approximately 5 to 10 minutes . A volunteer may receive an average of 3-7 calls a night. A four hour training is required, and scheduled at the volunteers convenience. Volunteers can schedule as much or as little as they want from once a week to once a month.
