American Red Cross volunteers are an essential part of our proud tradition and service to the community. Volunteers make a meaningful contribution to the American Red Cross Blood Services every single day! Blood drive volunteers assist in drives held Monday-Sunday as early as 7AM to 8PM and each drive lasts for 5 hours. Come and volunteer for blood drives in and close to your community.
Registration Volunteers warmly welcome, sign-in donors and manage donor flow. Registration volunteers often have the greatest impact on donors because they are the first and last to meet and greet them.
- Welcome donors to register and read required materials.
- Inform donors of promotions
- Give donors the first time donor stickers
- Maintain confidentiality of donor information.
- Review daily updates with the team supervisor
- Write notes for Red Cross staff to be informed of number of donors waiting including time of arrival/appointment
Canteen Volunteers are vital to our donor's overall donation experience. Canteen volunteers monitor donors for reaction signs: notifying the staff immediately if signs of a reaction are observed, serve refreshments and encourage them to donate again. In addition, volunteers promote a positive long-lasting impression of the American Red Cross.
The volunteer intake process is as follows:
- Phone screening
- Participate in an informational interview
- Complete a volunteer application
- Complete and clear the National Background Check (Free to you)
- Complete volunteer orientation
- Review and sign the American Red Cross Code of Conduct, Intellectual Property and Confidential Information Agreement
- Complete on-site training
Commitment: We are seeking volunteers that are willing to commit to at least six months and to cover three blood drives minimum per month.

Mission Statement
The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors.
Values
Along with the new mission and vision statements, we also want to lay out the values that are essential to our continued success: compassionate, collaborative, creative, credible and committed.
These values are not new to the Red Cross, but this gives us a common language and foundation to grow on. The values drive how we accomplish our goals and conduct ourselves to execute and achieve our Strategic Journey.
Compassionate: We are dedicated to improving the lives of those we serve and to treating each other with care and respect.
Collaborative: We work together as One Red Cross family, in partnership with other organizations, and always embrace diversity and inclusiveness.
Creative: We seek new ideas, are open to change and always look for better ways to serve those in need.
Credible: We act with integrity, are transparent guardians of the public trust and honor our promises.
Committed: We hold ourselves accountable for defining and meeting clear objectives, delivering on our mission and carefully stewarding our donor funds.
