Description
International Humanity Foundation Needs At-Home Volunteers
The International Humanity Foundation is a non-profit organization run by volunteers across the globe. Our goal is to empower the poorest of the poor through education, enabling them to stay off the streets and preventing them from ever being exploited. This organization supports over 4,000 children in Indonesia, Thailand and Kenya on a budget of about $8,000 per month. It is so little, but it makes such a difference. Our office is in San Diego, U.S.A., and we are looking for volunteers to help us right from their homes!
To contact us, or to learn more of how you can help, visit www.ihfonline.org .
If replying directly to this posting, please note in the subject line in which area you are interested. This ensures your contact email is routed to the correct team leader.
We desire volunteers who would love to help this amazing cause. Our volunteers are divided into task teams with leaders in order to maintain organization and achieve our goals! Check out the following task teams, and see where you would work best!

You will also try and send letters to get doctors and nurses to visit our centres as volunteers.

You will also be involved in gift-drives to collect money, or used toys and books to give to the kids on holidays and birthdays.
5. Googling applicantsOn this task you will be doing a quick research on our new applicants to see what their history and skills are before they come to the center. This helps us place people on tasks that most use their skills, and also ensures that we know are volunteers well before they live at our center. You will send in a sentence or two on each volunteer.
6. Researching poverty factsOn this task you will be given a list of questions to research and answer. These questions are related to child poverty in our world. This task includes emailing airlines and requesting that they help to cover part of the cost of the travel.
2. MediaOn this task you will be working with Paula to help increase public awareness of IHF programs and projects. You will be trying to get advertising space with magazines, newspapers and journals. You will also be trying to get articles published about IHF and its founder Carol.
3. San Diego local monthly meeting facilitatorOn this task you will need to live in San Dieo. You will be responsible for getting together all our San Diego volunteers once a month to ensure that all are still involved in their tasks and helping each other. 10. Address and data upkeepThis task is to assist in updating and keeping record of our email addresses and locations of volunteers sponsors, and other addresses for our Master Mailing list.
(C) Tasks which take 2 to 3 hours a week or 8 to 10 hours a month 1. Tracking active volunteersThis task involves checking our donated hours spreadsheet, to make sure all volunteers listed with a task are inputted onto this spreadsheet and sending in their donated hours weekly. The donated hours help us claim our tax status in the U.S. Also this task involves emailing volunteers who are assigned a task and not sending in their donated hours with a template letter offering a change of task.
2. ReferencesThis task is working with the volunteer coordinating/processing team to follow up on references for new applicants. You will be provided with a template letter and the references. To do this task you need regular access to internet, about 15 - 20 minutes a day.
3. Donated hoursThis task is to upload the donated hours sent in weekly by our volunteers onto a spreadsheet. This task should be done every Monday, and Wednesday for one hour. It is an easy task, but so helpful for our tax exempt status in the U.S.
4. AcceptancesThis team sends out acceptance letters to new volunteers after confirming their acceptance with the volunteer processing team.
5. FundraisingYou can work on Online Fundraising - where you will be working with Amir to access different types of online funds for IHF. And can also work on Corporate fundraising, where you will send out template letters to corporations to see if they are interested in donating or sponsoring a child.
6. Shipping ProcurementAny volunteer that can successfully fill this position would be doing as an incredibly invaluable service. We have many people who are willing to collect supplies, clothes, stationary, medicine, and other items for our centres. But unfortunately the shipping cost is so expensive that the result is we pay more for the shipping than the cost of the products. We need someone dedicated to helping us solve this problem. Either by finding a way to collect the cost of this shopping through fundraising, or by contacting shipping companies and asking for free freight/cargo space (or largely discounted). Sometimes, you may find that airline stewards are willing to take on the extra shipping cost, so contacting them may be of help. To be able to do this position successfully you need to be creative and determined. But the help would seriously be incredibly valuable.
7. Grant WritingAs the task name suggests, this task involve writing grants. You will be provided with a grant to start with, and you may use all the information on our website to help you learn about our programs. This task is very important as it provides us with the necessary funds to keep and grow our programs.
8. Task Follow UpThis task is working with the other task team members to follow up on volunteers who have been assigned a task and sent instructions. You will go over the spreadsheet filled by the volunteer in the task Placement Task, and send any volunteers a follow up email to check that they have received their instructions and are active on their task. Your duty is also to encourage and thank volunteers for their work. Good inter-personal skills are a plus.
9. FinancesOn this task you will help go through the weekly reports of each centre and make sure everything is in order. You will then be putting up our expense reports on our web with the help of Amir so that IHF can be a transparent organization.
10. Sponsor Letters In this task you will send out the letters that the children write to their sponsors. You can keep track of it by using the sponsorletters spreadsheet. We have hundreds of letters that need to go out every month, so you will be working with Elin and a team to get this done. It is a wonderful task as you see the beautiful letters the children write. 11. PHP and MySQL Web DeveloperThis volunteer will help with the maintenance and upkeep of the website or will work on a range of new web projects such as a contact management system, a tracking system for volunteer's donated hours or a map created using the Google Maps API.
