Do you have a green thumb?
House with a Heart strives to keep the Sanctuary grounds beautiful for the pleasure and happiness of our senior dogs. To that end we are looking for volunteers who can come once or twice a week Tues-Thur 11am-2pm to help us maintain the beauty of the Sanctuary yards.
Duties include: tending the memorial gardens, changing the yard flags, weeding, planting grass seed and flowers, watering the grass and plants, raking leaves, etc...
House with a Heart provides the tools and supplies. You just need to bring your experience and gardening knowledge.

Mission Statement
The House with a Heart Pet Sanctuary mission is to provide senior and special needs pets with a loving and caring home where they will be allowed to live out their lives in a secure, nurturing environment. We provide residents with a comfortable, bright, and spotless home environment. They play in secure outdoor yards and spend supervised time in fenced, grassy fields on the two-acre property. Healthcare and wellness screening are ongoing, with veterinary specialists consulted when needed. Pets receive special diets, as necessary, and are fed high-quality foods and treats.
Description
In 2006, Sher Polvinale and her late husband, Joe, created a senior pet sanctuary in their home. Sanctuary residents are dogs who have lost their families and homes through no fault of their own. Because of their advanced age and various medical conditions, they have little chance of being adopted.
House with a Heart is not a foster home orrescue group. Once a dog becomes a resident, it has a loving home for life. Our Director, Sher devotes herself full-time to caring for the pets and maintaining and improving the Sanctuary.
HWAH is supported by volunteers from Montgomery County and the surrounding Metro areas that walk, bathe, and care for the residents, as well as clean and maintain the house and two-acre property.
