We seek a reliable and conscientious individual to join our maintenance team in providing a safe, clean, and attractive public building.
This is a part-time unpaid volunteer position that supports the Lancaster Public Library’s maintenance and cleaning efforts.
The custodial volunteer is responsible for performing custodial duties, minor maintenance, and other miscellaneous duties in order to ensure that our building and facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, and sanitary manner.The custodial volunteer position is great for anyone looking to transition back into the workforce and gain a positive referral and support system while job searching.
Duties include: Dusting, vacuuming, mopping floors, washing tables, windows, and doors; cleaning up the courtyard and sidewalk; landscaping, and other tasks necessary to keep the library a clean and inviting place for the public.Experience and Training: Must be able to perform above listed services and have the ability to work independently
Qualifications: Ability and willingness to perform physical work

Description
As one of the oldest public libraries in the country, Lancaster Public Library has been providing library service in Lancaster for over 260 years. Lancaster Public Library has two locations in the county including the main branch at 125 N. Duke Street in the City of Lancaster and the Mountville Branch at 120 College Avenue in Mountville.
Our free public library services include:
»Adult, children, and teen books, periodicals, and audiovisuals from a collection of nearly 200,000 individual items
»Research, business, and historical reference collections
»Research assistance by skilled professional reference librarians
»Educational, recreational, and cultural programs and events for children, teens, adults, and seniors in collaboration community organizations
»Public computers with Internet access, as well as computer instruction for adults

»Public meeting rooms for approved community activities

»Special language collections
In addition to basic library services, Lancaster Public Library offers special and unique information services to specific groups of individuals in the community like the Duke Street Business Center, the World Languages Collection, and the Autism Resource Collection.
