Interested in volunteering at Shofuso Japanese House and Garden? We're the third ranked Japanese Garden in North America, due in large part to the efforts of our volunteers!
If you have weekday availability, we need your help!
Garden volunteer orientation, training, and scheduling take place this year on Tuesday, March 7th. Attending the orientation allows you to get some background information about the garden, a walk-through of the grounds (weather permitting), and an opportunity to meet other volunteers.
Register online at https://51111.blackbaudhosting.com/51111/Orientation-for-New-Garden-Volunteers.
If you have any questions for our head gardener, she can be reached at fsnyder@japanphilly.org.

Mission Statement
Our vision: We envision making Greater Philadelphia a nationally and globally known center of Japanese art, business, and culture.
Description
Operating now as the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia, a private nonprofit organization, the board and staff has administered, operated, funded, and preserved the city-owned site since 1982.
Shofuso Japanese House and Garden is a traditional-style Japanese house and garden in Philadelphia's West Fairmount Park. Shofuso was built in Japan in 1953 using traditional techniques and materials and exhibited in the courtyard at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, then moved to Philadelphia in 1958. A viewing garden with koi pond and island, a tea garden, and a courtyard garden comprise the nationally-ranked garden of this historic site and museum. Shofuso is open to the public for visitation Wednesday through Sunday from April through October.
