Dance/NYC is excited to share three volunteer opportunities for the upcoming Symposium. All volunteers are required to attend an orientation to be held on Saturday, March 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Gibney Dance.

Week-Of: Volunteers participating in the one-week track will provide administrative support to the Programs Director and Symposium Coordinator. One shift takes place the week before or after the event and is flexible upon availability. The second shift occurs on the day before the Symposium for a mandatory load-in on Saturday, March 4th from 6:00-10:00pm. The last shift takes place on the day of the Symposium for a total of 10-15 hours. This volunteer position is ideal for someone looking to learn more about the nuts and bolts of executing our yearly Symposium, but who would prefer to sit in for the entire day’s event on Sunday.

Day-Of: Day-Of volunteers attend the Symposium on Sunday, March 5th, volunteering for a minimum of 4 hours. There will typically be two volunteers scheduled per room at all times, as well as other production areas like registration, guest relations, and communications.

Stage Manager: Volunteers working as Stage Managers will attend the Symposium on Sunday, March 5th, and are required to be present for the full day of Symposium activities. Stage Managers will oversee all events in a given room, ensuring that events begin and end on time, speakers are present and prepared, and audience members complete and submit surveys.
