RSVP 55+ Volunteers provide assistance to medical staff by offering personal attention to patients on the floor, escorting patients to appointments, providing information to the public, delivering flowers to patient rooms, and giving assistance & comfort to family members in the Intensive Care and Surgical waiting areas. By providing this non-medical support, you help sustain staff productivity and patient morale. Volunteers create an important liaison between the hospital and families.

Typical shifts include:
9:00 am - 1:00 pm Mon-Fri
12:00 pm - 4:00 pm Mon-Fri
3:30 pm - 7:30 pm Mon-Fri
10:00 am - 2:00 pm Sat & Sun
2:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sat & Sun
Volunteers typically serve one 4-hour shift weekly. The hospital provides a free meal at the cafeteria with each shift volunteered.

Volunteers commit to a total of 80 volunteer hours, which with a 4-hour weekly shift would take 5-6 months.

All volunteers will be required to pass a drug screen, 2-step TB test, background check and immunization check. Volunteers will also attend a New Employee Orientation, Volunteer Orientation (brief), and a position-specific training.

This volunteer opportunity is offered through Davis Co. Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and is for people age 55 or better. Benefits of volunteering through RSVP include mileage reimbursement for travel between home and the volunteer station, as well as supplemental insurance coverage while serving.

About Davis County RSVP

Location:

42 South State Street, Clearfield, UT 84015, US

Mission Statement

Davis County RSVP empowers and enables Americans 55+ in addressing community needs and concerns through volunteering.

Description

Americans 55+ have a lifetime of experience to share and the desire to make a real difference in their world. Members of this mature generation have managed households, been business owners and nurses, farmers and salespeople, artists and executives. Now they are ready to put their unique talents and expertise to work in their communities, and enrich their own lives in the process.

RSVP is the connection to aid volunteers in choosing how and where to serve, time of service, causes to support, and how to get started. RSVP provides pre-service orientation, training from the organization where service is given, supplemental insurance while on duty, and, in some cases, a mileage reimbursement to cover the cost of travel between home and the volunteer site.

When you volunteer, you're not just helping others - you're helping yourself. Volunteering leads to new discoveries and new friends. Plus, studies show that volunteering helps you live longer and promotes a positive outlook on life.
