BRAWS: Bringing Resources to Aid Women's Shelters, is seeking volunteers for our Third Annual Mardi Bras fundraiser, which will be held on February 24th, 2017, at the Sea Pearl restaurant in the Mosaic District of Merrifield. We are expecting approximately 200 guests to attend.

100% of the proceeds will be used to purchase new bras, underwear and feminine hygiene products for local homeless women, teenagers, and preteen girls living in local shelters.

BRAWS is a volunteer-driven, community-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that helps homeless women and children by providing much needed new bras and underwear, as well as feminine hygiene products.

Did you know?

• There are approximately 550 homeless women and girls in Fairfax County alone.

• BRAWS has donated thousands of bras, underwear and packages of feminine hygiene products to over 30 area shelters in the last two years.

• BRAWS is also partnering with county social services departments to provide year-long supplies of feminine hygiene products to school-age girls.

We need your help! Here are a few ways:

Marketing:

-Promote Mardi Bras (MB) on social media
-Promote Mardi Bras via fliers around town
-Contact local papers/websites to advertise Mardi Bras

-Put together video for event (facts, pictures, sponsors names)

Sponsor Support:

-Recruit sponsors for Mardi Bras
-Gather items from sponsors for the swag bags

Raffle:

-Gather raffle and silent auction items

-Make signs for the raffle items & silent auction items

Day-of:

-Decorate space for Mardi Bras
-Set up all raffle items
-Assist vendors with table set-up if need be
-Sell event tickets

-Check-in guests
-Hand out beads
-Sell raffle tickets
-Assist in raffle drawing
-Give raffle items to winners as they leave
-Hand out swag bags
-Clean up space after event
