Are you interested in access to a fun, free, and fully equipped maker space where you can explore technology, electrical engineering, woodworking, and art? Do you wish to experience the personal satisfaction gained from joining a green initiative that benefits our environment? Do you want to wow college admissions offices and future employers with a resume that showcases your personal initiative in helping your community and understanding of the 21st century skills they are seeking in applicants? If so, MacGyver Academy is the place for you! We are a startup registered charity here in Las Vegas and currently we’re seeking student volunteers who are available on Fridays and Saturdays any time between 9am and 9pm to help us build this exciting new concept. Our volunteer opportunities are varied so the only prerequisites we require is that you have a desire to innovate, help out, and learn useful new skills! Mission Statement
MacGyver Academy’s purpose is to provide education in entrepreneurship, science, technology, and engineering by combining e-waste recycling with an after school research and development learning facility.
Description
At MacGyver Academy our vision is to create an educational center that utilizes open source learning. The facility will be an interactive workshop where participants can explore, learn, and have fun in a safe and welcoming environme nt. At MacGyver Academy our goal is for school aged learners and college students to gain access to machines, computers, and tools that may have been previously unattainable for them. Further, we plan to extend this access to older adults and STEM professionals in exchange for their willingness to help mentor and motivate our younger or less experienced participants.
