Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Coordinator

The American Red Cross Disaster Cycle Services (DCS) is launching the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign (HFPC) in October 2014. Its goal is to reduce the rate of deaths and injuries due to home fires by 25 percent over 5 years. Its strategy includes participating in a community coalition that targets neighborhoods at-risk for home fires; installs and tests smoke alarms; and provides fire safety and disaster preparedness education/planning.

PURPOSE
This position exists primarily to coordinate all aspects of Home Fire Preparedness Campaign program planning and implementation. The Local Coordinator coordinates all activities in advance and on the day of the event (including but not limited to - procuring volunteer groups or individuals to participate in events and identifying neighborhoods in need of smoke alarms).

TIME COMMITMENT

40 - 60 hours over the course of 2 -3 months, once a quarter on average

QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience managing and coordinating events and working with partners.
* Ability to relate well and effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
* Excellent interpersonal verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to read, understand and review program guidelines and tools.
* Affinity to Operations Management, Managers in Community Partnerships, Logistics, Local Community Volunteers

REQUIRED TRAINING

American Red Cross Volunteer Orientation
* Disaster Services: An Overview (optional)
* Home Fire Preparedness Campaign Guidance and Training: Safety for Home Visits, Fire Safety and Disaster Education, and other required training.
