Volunteers in the SafePlace Pet Foster Program will take part in an off-site foster care program designed for temporary care for pets of current clients of SafePlace shelter. Volunteers will be responsible for maintaining a safe and fun-loving environment for our clients' pets. Volunteers are especially needed to provide foster care to larger (30-80 lbs.) canine pets.
Provides immediate short-term foster care (1 day to 1 week) or longer-term care (maximum of two months) in a safe environment for the pets of current SafePlace Shelter residents until a longer term placement with SafePlace Pet Foster Program Caregiver Vounteer can be arranged.
Ensures that food, water, daily attention and non-violent discipline are provided for the pet. Alerts SafePlace Pet Foster Program Volunteer Coordinator if medical attention is required.
Short term: foster a minimum of one animal (that fits for your lifestyle) once every 3 months
Long term: f oster a minimum of one animal (that fits for your lifestyle) once every 6 months
