Through weekly programs, our trained and screened volunteers provide activities, healthy snacks, and fun for children at emergency shelter and transitional housing sites throughout Washington, D.C. Our trauma-informed programs seek to restore normalcy by providing opportunities for children to learn and heal through play, and empowering them to make choices, express themselves, relate to others, and find support.
Because the address for the site where we volunteer is sensitive information, please email kbarsoum@iupui.edu and I will provide you with the address.

Mission Statement
To carry out our mission of transforming the lives of children in need, we need aspiring leaders, volunteers and creative go-getters at the helm.
Description
The HOPE Association is a not-for-profit faith-based organization that was founded in 2012 out of the great calling to be the place where people’s greatest needs are met using people’s greatest passions. Our organization began and exists as a ministry and means to fulfill the vision of St. Timothy and St. Athanasius Orthodox Church (STSA) in Arlington, VA and achieve its core value which states, "We bleed with love for the community around us - especially those who are without Christ. We don’t just care about spiritual needs, but physical, emotional, and social needs as well."
We’re a group of young Christian leaders from different backgrounds, ethnicities and race.
But we all have one mission: To transform the lives of children in need by helping them grow, learn, and cultivate a better future and eternal HOPE
We want to mobilize the talent of The Church to support this mission.
HOPE recognizes that everyone is not only a citizen but also an artist. We all have certain God given talents, and we believe that these aptitudes should be elevated in order to transform our local communities.
Our aim at HOPE is to expand how serving the needs of children has been done in the past. We want to break the stereotypes and challenge the status quo so that our generation is one that serves from a place of inspiration, rather than a place of burden.
