STEM Workshops component of AWISSD's up-coming STEM Career Conference for young women to be held at SDSU on February 4, 2017
We are excited to have speakers, speed mentoring, hands-on workshops and career advice for the high school and undergraduate young women attendees. The workshop session will be held in the afternoon, from 12:00 to 2:00pm. We would love to have you participate and demo some of your cool VR technology!
Below are more specific details about the workshops and what your role may be. Also please see the attached poster and call.
Approximately 100 high school (juniors and seniors) and college level young women from throughout San Diego County are expected to attend the conference.
STEM Workshop session details-
- Runs from 12:00 to 2:00pm
- Present a 45-min hands-on activity for small groups (15-25 girls)
- Each presenter will run their program twice to allow each of our young women to attend 2 workshops.
- We are currently recruiting workshop presenters in all fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math!
- Presenters should plan to arrive at 11:00am to get badges, grab lunch, and set-up at 11:30am.
- Presenters are also invited to join us to volunteer in other components of the conference if they are interested! Visit http://www.awissd.orgfor more information.

Description
The Association of Women in Science (AWIS) supports the advancement of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The San Diego chapter's Outreach Committee runs events throughout the year designed to fulfill our mission and our committee's goals:
- Inspire and nurture curiosity in STEM
- Design unique STEM programming
- Promote visibility of women as role models & leaders
- Support growth of our members and mission
- Foster partnerships to expand resources
We welcome anyone to join us as a volunteer who is excited about STEM and intersted in inspiring community members and aspiring scientists. This includes AWIS members, non-members, and people of any age, gender or profession (see individual events for possible restrictions). We hope you'll consider volunteering for one of our events!
