Neighbors is in major need of volunteers to help with donation pickup. The majority of the food in Neighbors' emergency food shelf is donated by area grocery stores. Volunteers are assigned to a store and day of the week and are responsible to pick up that store's donations and deliver to Neighbors.
Key activities:
- Pick up food donations on a regular weekly schedule at locations in or around northern Dakota County
- Volunteers will use their own vehicles to pick-up donations and will need to be able to load and unload donations on their own. All collected donations are delivered to Neighbors
- Shifts are between 1-2 hours long, weekday and morning
- This can be done with a friend or spouse or on your own
Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years old, or 10 if accompanied by an adult
- Have valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and a reliable vehicle
- Able to lift bags or barrels of food--most locations are not heavy lifting
Shifts Available:
- Monday and/or Wednesday, 9:00 am, Aldi in Inver Grove Heights
- Monday and/or Wednesday, 8:30 am, Hyvee in Eagan (biggest need)
- Wednesday, 7:30 am, Cub in West St. Paul
- Ongoing/flexible, Donation Pick-up Substitute
