RG is an international non-profit that provides access to cutting edge research technologies, physicians, and scientists across the globe. By providing an expert network and an online crowdfunding mechanism, RG helps families pursue personalized research projects for diseases not otherwise studied. We bring together scientists who share our passion for helping rare disease patients and leverage the crowdfunding capabilities of the Internet to bring the hope of a cure to our patients.

We are looking for an experienced developer with a passion for frontend work. You have built complex web apps using AngularJS or another modern Javascript framework. You create structured, modular CSS. You play nicely with designers and care about implementing pixel-perfect, responsive, jank-free interfaces

Requirements

  • You have a demonstrable track record of building highly interactive Web/Mobile applications.

  • You write elegant, reusable, well tested code and can strike the right balance between writing perfect code and shipping it rapidly and iteratively.

  • You are able to design and implement large projects in a self-directed fashion.

  • You quickly assimilate whatever technologies are needed for a project.

  • When pointed at a target, you eliminate obstacles and just make it happen - usually in a way that is more awesome than originally envisioned.

Hybrid Mobile development

  • iOS, Android, hybrid (PhoneGap/Cordova), Ionic framework

Helpful experience

Phonegap, Ionic framework, HTML5 apps using Cordova, CSS, Ruby on Rails, Sass, Angular.js, Node

Description

Rare Genomics Institute (RGI) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping rare disease
patients find a diagnosis, treatment, and pathway to a cure. Through personalized research
projects, RGI provides access to world leading medical institutions and scientists to conduct
genomic sequencing, coordinates with clinicians and counselors to interpret findings, and offers an
online crowd-funding platform to deliver financial solutions. RGI also supports rare disease
advocacy by fostering an online community of rare disease patients and supporting rare disease
research through a yearly grant competition.

Since being founded in 2011, RGI has completed over 300 genetic sequencing and analysis
projects, assisted patients fund over $3.5 million worth of genomic sequencing, discovered 8
unique genetic mutations in-house, given over $2 million dollars in grants to researchers on rare
disease, and developed an online community with over 10,000 rare disease members.
Through volunteers, RGI is able to slowly push science and health care forward to meet the needs
