NeighborLink Indy is a nonprofit that provides free home repairs to low-income senior homeowners and homeowners with disabilities. We need a volunteer to maintain our fundraising system and processes. No experience required. The work can be done from home. Activities include input and operation of our donor tracking system, generating regular mailings and communications to donors, tracking board and senior staff contacts with donors, assisting with annual donor dinner, and processing incoming donations.

Objective: insure that NeighborLink accurately tracks all donations, expresses gratitude and appreciation to those donors, and continuously increases our number of donors.

Time Commitment: 2-4 hours per week or less. You will work with the current associate until you are comfortable with the responsibilities.

You will not be the person who asks for donations. You will be backing up those NeighborLink people who do ask. And you will be making sure that all planned funding activities happen as planned.

Mission Statement

NeighborLink Indianapolis mission is to help older adults and individuals with disabilities who own their own homes age in place safely and with dignity. We do this by providing home repair at no cost to the homeowner.

Description

We focus on home repairs that enable the homeowner to age in place safely, stabilize the home for years to come, and provide an improved appearance for the neighborhood at large. Many of the repairs we provide would be able to be done by the homeowner if they had the means or physical ability. By using volunteers we are able to help the homeowner as well as provide that intimate experience of truly being the hands and able-body for someone else.

Most older adults want to age in the most affordable home-the one they own. Aging in place allows older adults some level of autonomy and dignity over their own health and decisions. It allows many to remain within communities they’ve been a part of for decades. Social determinants of health, particularly including the ability to keep their home safe and accommodating to their physical needs, are among some of the most challenging barriers to aging in place.
