Volunteer Opportunity at the Western Cuyahoga Audubon Speaker Series Programs 2017
Description: We'd like to have one or two Audubon friends be a greeter at each of our program meetings to welcome our members and guests at the door of the Auditorium prior to the program. Assist guests in finding seating, show them the refreshments have them visit displays in the auditorium and introduce new members or guests to others.
Volunteers are needed for the remainder of the program year. Speaker programs are the first Tuesday of each month starting in November through May from 7:00 to 7:45 PM for setup and following the program for clean up.
Details for this event:

Programs are free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated.
Description: Nineteen species of bumble bee are historically known from Ohio, but only about 10 of them may be found found now. Some were never common, but several once abundant species are now in steep decline with two species in danger of becoming extinct not only in Ohio, but globally. Habitat loss, introduced parasites, and pesticides are the most likely causes of these declines. Dr. Randall Mitchell, from the University of Akron, will share with us bumble bee identification and how habitat management can help bumble bees in the program, "Bumblebees of Ohio and the Great Lakes".

Mission Statement
Educating community about conservation of the natural world through member involvement in chapter activities and community outreach.
Description
Western Cuyahoga Audubon is a chapter of the National Audubon Society. Our members are from the western Cuyahoga County, Ohio region. We coordinate activities throughout the entire area and throughout the year. We offer families, couples and singles opportunities to enjoy and learn about nature with others of similar interests and beliefs. Our members range from experienced naturalists to first time explorers.
Our members' interests are in enjoying, experiencing, and learning about nature. Western Cuyahoga Audubon offers many opportunities to participate in field trips, volunteer activities, and educational programs while meeting other people with similar interests and values. We conduct bird walks, teach bird identification and participate in the Annual Christmas Bird Count and Audubon Spring Spring Bird Census. But that's only a small part of what we're about.
What binds us is our love of nature through all seasons. As lovers of nature, Cleveland is a great place for us to live. We have an excellent park system, a great lake, natural beauty and a vast variety of activities which allow us to enjoy all that nature has to offer.
This is your opportunity to support, on a local level, our parks, local conservation initiatives and local legislation issues. Join us in enjoying, supporting and experiencing all of the nature Cleveland has to offer.
