Zimmerman House
The house was built in 1874, remodeled in 1899 and was home to three generations of the Zimmerman Family. The majority of their possessions remain in the house.

We have two Museums - the Heslin House and the Zimmerman House. These homes were built in the late 1800s, many of the family possessions remain, and we receive 'new' donations at the Heslin House quite often.

We work each Tuesday afternoon from 4-8pm with volunteers coming and going as their schedule allows. We work 2 weeks at one museum, then two weeks at the next.

The tasks include:

  • Hand-write information on a form for each item in the collection so we have a complete description of the artifact and it can be assigned a unique number.
  • Affix this unique number on each artifact, which is done in a variety of methods depending on the item.
  • Use the personal computer on the premises and enter the information from the forms into the Past Perfect database.
  • Arrange items for new exhibits.
  • Sort paper documents.

All of these tasks are done in small teams, so you wouldn't be working alone. The Curator is always on site, so questions can be quickly raised and answered.
