Miffy's Animal Rescue

What Does an animal Foster Parent Do?

Currently, Miffy's Animal Resuce runs on a foster network. This means we rely on the kindness of others to provide shelter, love and socialization to animals in need until they are ready to find their forever homes.

How Much Does it Cost to Foster?

Aside from your time, love and patience, there is no cost to you. Miffy's Animal Resuce will provide all fosters will food, toys, leashes, and supplies necessary to care for the animal. Please keep in mind that many of these animals have come from bad situations and may have behavioral issues that you will need to be able to work through such as house training, chewing, excessive barking and more. But we promise they are all worth it!

While being a foster will cost you nothing, there are some requirements to consider. You will be in charge of your foster pet which means you will schedule and drive them to all their vet appointments at the Animal Health Care Center of Hershey. You must administer medicine if they need it and you are responsible for setting up "meet and greets" with approved adopters who are intersted in adopting your foster pet. Meet and greets can take place in your home or in a public location such as a park.

How Do I Become a Foster Parent?

  1. The potential foster will fill out an application from our website at www.miffysanimalrescue.com and let us know a bit more about their experience with animals and why they want to be apart of our foster home team.

  2. MAR will reach out to the applicant and schedule a home inspection to make sure there are no hazards that could potentially endanger your future foster pet.

  3. MAR will contact the references listed on the fosters application.

  4. Once all of these steps have been completed, MAR will give the applicant a call and let them know if they have been approved or not. The whole process usually takes about a week.

While we understand that this is a long process, it helps ensure the safety of both the animals and the foster. The fuzzy cuddles will be worth the effort!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to rescue as many homeless, abused and neglected animals as we can and place them into loving forever homes.

Description

We are an all volunteer non-profit organization that helps animals in need and educates the public about proper animal care and pet over population. We currently do not have a facility but will have one hopefully in the near future! We house our rescue animals with temporary foster families that volunteer with our rescue. We provide all of the necessary vet care, temperment testing, behavioral training that each individual animal needs to have a successful adoption.

Since we are a non-profit organization we do a lot of fundraisers! We always need volunteers to help run our fundraisers, adoption events and we always need more foster homes. We also need people who are interested in applying for grants and doing secretarial work such as answering emails and Facebook messages.
