Tampa Bay History Center's Gallery Guides provide a friendly face, a bit of history and a welcoming attitude. Guides are stationed in the museum each day from 1pm - 3pm. They answer questions, engage our visitors and monitor the galleries. It is an ideal way to get inside the museum, learn how it operates and lend a helping hand.

If you have an interest in history, enjoy talking to people (locals and visitors) and can commit to two afternoons per month, then give us a try! Our Gallery Guides include young adults just out of school considering a museum career, mid-life adults looking for a stimulating, new environment and retirees looking for a worthwhile community service opportunity.

About Tampa Bay History Center

Location:

801 Water Street, Tampa, FL 33602, US

Mission Statement

The Tampa Bay History Center is dedicated discovering, preserving, and learning from our region’s past to inform our common future.

Description

The Tampa Bay History Center's 60,000-square-foot museum opened in Jan 2009. Located in Tampa's downtown Water Street area, the museum is situated on the waterfront overlooking Cotanchobee-Fort Brooke Park. The four-level building features three floors of interactive exhibits, theater presentations, map center, research library, classrooms, event space, museum store, Columbia Cafe, and more.

Following in the footsteps of our area's first native inhabitants, Spanish conquistadors, pioneers, presidents, sports legends, and railroad tycoons, visitors can explore 500 years of recorded history and 12,000 years of human habitation in the Tampa Bay region. They can stroll through a 1920s cigar store, experience a theater presentation, create their own citrus labels, discover an 1800s Cracker cabin, view World War II artifacts, and more.
