Higher Achievement is a nonprofit focusing on providing academic rigorous opportunities for middle school youth in Richmond and Henrico.
WHO: We are seeking volunteers who have a basic, intermediate, or expert level of proficiency in Spanish, French, or German (other languages may apply). This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who need instruction/language practice or hours, or simply to give back to your community by doing what you love.
WHAT: Volunteers will work with a choice of a small group (5) or large group (10) of middle school youth to provide a basic / introductory understanding of a language. Providing this volunteer service will allow our scholars to be more prepared to choose a language for study in high school and increase thier ability to pass.
WHEN & WHERE: The following middle schools are linked with the needed volunteer times. The total comittment is from October to May (holidays and snow days excluded); roughly 20-27 sessions total.
- Binford Middle School - Thursday from 6:30 to 7:25pm (1 hour)
- Boushall Middle School - Thursday from 6:30 to 7:25pm (1 hour)
- Henderson Middle School - Thursday from 6:15 to 7:20pm (1 hour)
- Wilder Middle School - Monday from 6:15 to 7:20pm (1 hour)
