tulips 2015

Get outdoors in the fresh fall air and help the Friends of Anderson Park conservancy plant 500 tulip bulbs in this Olmsted-designed park, on the National Register of Historic Places. If you have one, bring a shovel, trowel or tulip digger, but that's not required. We also supply tools, and we have lots of gloves. (Shovels are particularly useful if you have one.) Meet at the north end of Anderson Park, near the intersection of Bellevue Avenue and North Mountain Ave. (Raindate is the next day, Sunday, Nov. 6, 1-3 p.m.)

About Friends of Anderson Park

Location:

274 Bellevue Avenue, Montclair, NJ 07043, US

Mission Statement

Friends of Anderson Park is a conservancy dedicated to thoughtful stewardship of Anderson Park and to fostering its natural, cultural, historic and educational qualities. We act as liaisons to the park's owner, Essex County, NJ, to ensure the integrity of the park's nationally significant and historic landscape design and to maintain its ambiance as a pastoral village green.

Description

Anderson Park is on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as a community gathering spot and place for passive and active recreation in Upper Montclair, New Jersey. We are a completely volunteer organization with no paid staff. Volunteers are needed for our annual Spring Cleanup to plant, mulch, weed, collect litter, etc. Also in Spring, Summer and Fall volunteers are needed for similar tasks, as well as watering new plants. Opportunities are available for projects, such as Eagle Scout projects, that take on responsibility for a specific planting area.
