Meal Delivery Volunteers Needed Put the Giving Back Into Thanksgiving!

Do you have a few hours to deliver meals on Thanksgiving morning? Start your day off with a giving heart by being part of Volunteer Action for Aging's 24th Annual Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Event!
Volunteers with access to a car are needed to pick up hot Thanksgiving Meals from our Headquarters in the Long Beach area, very close to the airport. After you pick up the meal you drive to the senior's home to deliver the meals and have a brief visit with homebound or isolated seniors.
You choose the delivery city and the number of stops you would like to make. We hope for at least 3 stops on your route. We provide the addresses and directions for your delivery. You can invite friends or family members to join you in your vehicle to share this very happy "special delivery." You'll be finished with your deliveries by noon, with plenty of time to enjoy your own Thanksgiving and share the stories of your morning of giving with your friends and family.
Many of our seniors would not have a Thanksgiving without our program. It is a great day for volunteers and seniors alike. A great way to kick off the holiday season.
We need you and hundreds of others to make this a successful day.
English, Spanish and Korean speakers are needed.
Here is how you sign up:
1. Access our website scan.samaritan.com
2. Scroll down to the bright green area and click on Thanksgiving Meal Delivery
3. Click on the Schedule Tab
4. Click on the blue "Sign Up" button
5. Log in with User name and password
6. Fill in the information, answer all questions
7. When you finish the form click on "Submit Application"
8. If you are a returning Meal Delivery Volunteer, we need you to sign in for the 2016 event.

Mission Statement
Volunteer Action for Aging (VAA) is a volunteer service program operating under Independence at Home, a non-profit care management organization that supports disabled adults and seniors in their efforts to remain healthy and independent in their homes and communities. Our volunteer program works to assist and develop nurturing and caring relationships with disabled adults and homebound seniors.
Description
VAA provides the following services and community service opportunities:
Homeless Hygiene Care kit Event: Volunteers of all ages including seniors, Veterans, and young adults will gather to assemble homeless care kits.
Cell Phone Instruction To assist seniors understand the basic or advanced functions of their cell phones or Smart phones we need patient teachers who can work individually with seniors at a downtown Long Beach senior apartment building.
ALL YEAR Friendly Visitor/Phone Friend Volunteer: on a weekly basis, volunteers provide either friendly visits or phone calls to matched clients. They offer emotional support, companionship and conversation to reduce loneliness and isolation.
Writing Letters for our Troops Event: clients and volunteers come together to write letters for our active military and veterans. Letters are sent to Operation Gratitude, a non-profit organization that sends care packages to the military.
Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Ev: This event has become a family tradition for many and we have volunteers who help year after year.
