If you enjoy working outside, this is a great volunteer position for you!
We need help getting the word out about who we are and what we do. Uhuru Furniture is part of a non-profit making self-determination in the African community a reality. You would be helping to let people know how they can support our programs!
We need volunteers to help distribute posters and flyers throughout the Bay Area including Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley, Piedmont, Alameda and more!
How it works:
Volunteers arrive with their walking shoes on! We provide the materials, water, a snack and a map. The map has a highlighted section showing exactly the area you will cover. Then your goal is to get out as many materials in that area as possible. You make the map as you go and report back.
Highlights:
You get exercise, fresh air and you learn a lot about your community by walking it! You can sign up to volunteer with friends! Also, you are giving so many people the opportunity to support African self-reliance.
Ability to drive and access to a car is a plus!

Uhuru Furniture & Collectibles is an economic development project of the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF).
APEDF is a 501c3 non-profit that defends the civil and human rights of the African community and addresses the disparities faced by the African community in education, health, health care and economic development. APEDF is building self-determination in the African community.

Description
Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Grand Lake area store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
