Volunteers needed for beginner soccer for children with special needs, specifically autism. Volunteers will work with children ages 2-10. Volunteers act as a buddy, helping a child stay on task, modeling a skill such as dribbling or passing, and encouraging social interactions. No soccer skills or special needs experience needed, just a willingness to show up and serve some really awesome kids. Volunteers ages 14 and up welcome! Volunteers especially needed are Sunday November 13th from 1:45pm-4:00pm.

Mission Statement
To provide youth on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing challenges the opportunity to play soccer while fostering social skills and creating awareness and acceptance within the community.
Description
Oak City Soccer was founded in April 2016 by an occupational therapist and soccer enthused autism parents to provide a supportive and nurturing place for children to learn and enjoy soccer. We provide specialized soccer instruction for children ages 2 and up with autism or sensory processing challenges in a safe and adaptive environment. We use a volunteer buddy system to provide support and encouragement to our participants throughout the sessions. We customize classes based on age, skill, and assist level needed. We focus on soccer skills as well as coordination, motor planning, social skills, and sportsmanship.
Our goal is to continue providing soccer instruction while cultivating the skills needed to transition into typical leagues. This also includes establishing a modified league to facilitate the transition and ensure optimal success and fun from our participants.
