Paint shelving and store fixtures

ORGANIZATION: Ten Thousand Villages Oak Park

  • 2 people are interested

Our non-profit store has been in a "re-freshing" mode for the past month and needs to complete the project by October 2. We could use some handy people who have the talent to paint store fixtures (much like wood furniture) and shelves. The painting will be done in the basement during store hours.

We will show you what items need painting and when finished, you clean the roller, pan. and brush before leaving.

Please CALL us if you can help us finish this project: 708-848-4572 We can have 2 people at a time painting, so if you know another painter we would love to bave them.

Hours we need help: 10:30-6 Tuesday - Saturday and 12:30-5 on Sunday

WE HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON!

About Ten Thousand Villages Oak Park

Location:

121 N Marion, Oak Park, IL 60301, US

Mission Statement

Ten Thousand Villages Oak Park is a non-profit, fair-trade retailer that supports marginalized artisans in developing countries by selling their products in the developed world. Unlike a conventional retailer, we guarantee the artisans with whom we work fair-wages and compensation for their labor. Many of our artisans are educating the first generation of their families and joining the middle class in their home countries thanks to our work! Currently we work with artisan groups in 36 different countries around the world. Among other things, our store offers home decor products, jewelry, scarves, dishware, musical instruments, coffee and tea

Description

Our work would not be possible without the help of a large staff of volunteers, who handle every aspect of our business, from bookkeeping to customer service to marketing and promotion. However, our greatest needs are for sales associates and merchandise handlers.

As a home decor and personal accessoroes store we are constantly receiving new inventory. Personable, reliable people who enjoy meeting customers and getting the first look at new products can always find a home here!

In appreciation of our volunteers donation of time we offer a 20% discount on in-store purchses, as well as initial and ongoing skills-based training. We hold quarterly appreciation events to enable our capable, generous volunteers to meet and socialize with one another. Our store is particularly lively and busy during the holiday season.
