Accessing the Past Digital History Collaborative

Our grant funded project called Accessing the Past Digital History Collaborative (APDHC) is a cooperative partnership with the Palm Springs Public Library, the City of Palm Springs, the California State Library, and other community partners. Together we are making our historic collections digitally available to anyone, anywhere in the world, and connecting people to information.

We need computer saavy volunteers to scan sometimes fragile historic materials using a professional grade document scanner and then adjusting these files on the computer to be saved and cataloged. Volunteers need to be very comfortable working on a PC and must have a demonstrated knowledge of using a computer, the Internet, and MS Office products. Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and other graphic programs a plus.

Volunteers will be trained on our ssytem and tools but then will mainly work independently scanning and cataloging materials.
