ORGANIZATION: Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver

Club members

The Boettcher Boys & Girls Club is looking for a vocal coach and/or a theater enthusiast to help produce the Clubs' rendition of THE WIZ this fall season. This is an exciting volunteer opportunity for individuals who want to share their love for the theater with kids who might not otherwise get this experience. Volunteer(s) will assist the Boettcher’s Cultural Arts Specialist during programming.

The production will be cast by mainly 10-16 year olds with an additional chorus of up to ten Club members. The musical will debut in early December.

The ideal volunteer would commit to at least two hours a week for the length of the production with the opportunity to continue volunteering afterward. The drama program time and day is flexible based on the availability of the volunteer(s). Preferably between 5-7pm during a weeknight. Volunteers are not expected during holiday breaks. Our sites are open from 3pm-9pm M-F.

All adults working with our youth are required to complete a background check. The background check will be submitted by BGCMD staff. We do ask for a volunteer application fee to help us cover the cost of your background check. If this fee is a barrier for you to volunteer with us, please let me know!

If you'd like to learn more about this opportunity, or are interested in applying, please email LizF@BGCMD.org

Thank you for your consideration!

About Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Denver

Location:

Mission Statement

To empower every Club member, through safe and impactful experiences, to: graduate high school with a plan for college or career, contribute to their community and live a healthy life.

Description

At Boys & Girls Clubs, we know the hours between 3:00-6:00 p.m. are the peak hours for juvenile crime and the time when kids are most likely to experiment with drugs, alcohol, cigarettes and other risky behaviors. We also know that today in our metro Denver community, children are facing obstacles more challenging than ever before. Kids from low-income families are six times more likely to drop out of school, and 41 percent of kids across Denver are overweight or obese - a number that continues to steadily increase year after year.

Boys & Girls Clubs provide young people with opportunities to engage in programs that help them achieve academic success, take charge of their health by building healthy habits that will stick with them throughout their lives, and foster the skills they need to become leaders in their communities.

Boys & Girls Clubs are there for kids when they need us most: after school, all day in the summer, and even during the school day. Our membership is open to all youth ages 6-18, and for $2 annually, our Club members have access to a wealth of programming that has the power to positively shape and change their lives.
