Volunteers Needed!! Community Service Awarded!!
Great Opportunity for Groups, Teams, AmeriCorps, Students, UPO Staff, Corporate Partners, Families and Washington Highland Residents the more the merrier.
Many of you know about UPO’s work within Washington Highlands, and our desire to wrap our arms around the community residents to ensure that they are informed of the services and opportunities through UPO and partnering organizations. We also work with the residents to encourage them to get involved, take ownership and be a part of the change they would like to see in their community.
Our goal for this block is to clean, plant flowers, trees, mulch, paint, provide solar lighting, plant an edible garden, and implement a neighborhood watch program. 40 homes have registered.
We all know that change does not happen overnight and that it takes effort, commitment, and people willing to stand united to make a difference. We are pleased to say that the residents of the 600 block of Elmira Street, SE in the Washington Highland Community have taken a stand, united together and are the winners of UPO’s Vote your Block Challenge.
The Beautification Event will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017 (7am-5pm)
