Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospice -- New Hospice Volunteer Training
IMPORTANT: The hospice training is in Columbia on Saturday, February 18th at 9am but you will be working in the Sumter area.
Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospice cares for its volunteers, just as it cares for patients. All Palmetto Health Tuomey Hospice Volunteers share a common goal of enriching the quality of total patient care in a non-medical role. We appreciate that you have time to share, a strong sense of responsibility and a willingness to offer support to the team members, our hospice patients and their loved ones.
Please call to arrange an interview. During the interview, you can express your interest in the particular hospice volunteer program(s) you wish to engage in and ask any questions you may have about Palmetto Health Tuomey, hospice and/or volunteering.
REQUIREMENTS for becoming a hospice volunteer: Must be at least 18 years old, willing to give 2-4 hours per week and attend a minimum of 2 in-services per year to qualify. However, individuals 16 to 18 years old may qualify to assist with administrative duties in the office.

Description
Prisma Health Tuomey Hospice is looking for volunteers who are willing to provide companionship to those facing a terminal illness. Hospice volunteers serve in non-medical roles, but are an important part of the hospice team who give their time and emotional support to patients, families and staff. They work in a variety of locations including patient homes, hospitals and nursing facilities. We are currently looking for individuals to serve in Sumter who are interested in sitting with patients to offer companionship, emotional support and caregiver respite.
